Description:

Organizations across the country joined together to send a letter to President Obama thanking him for his leadership on nuclear weapons issues and making recommendations for how the Nuclear Posture Review can best achieve the vision he laid out in his speech from Prague.

The Obama administration is working on its Nuclear Posture Review, which will set U.S. nuclear weapons policy for the next 5-10 years. This review is an opportunity to reject outdated Cold War thinking and create a transformational policy that addresses the threats of the 21st century and sets the U.S. on a path toward the elimination of nuclear weapons.

The letter is signed by 179 national, regional, and local organizations from across the country, representing 31 states, a wide variety of arms control, peace, security, religious, and environmental organizations, and hundreds of thousands of citizens.

The Campaign for a Nuclear Weapons Free World, a coalition of more than 100 organizations that strongly supports President Obama's vision of "the peace and security of a world free of nuclear weapons," organized the letter.

A copy of the letter can be downloaded.
