10 Encouraging Prayers for Overcoming Heartbreak

Proverbs 4:20-22
God of Peace, Your word tells me to pay attention to what You say and to turn my ear to Your words. I pray that I do not let them out of my sight, instead I will keep them within my heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s body. Eternal God, I hold onto Your words right now so that I can let go of and be healed from the heartbreak that holds me down, Amen.

Proverbs 17:22
O Lord, I know that a cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. The heartbreak that keeps me down is not only bad for me emotionally, but this affects me physically and even spiritually. I pray for healing from my heartbreak, I declare that I will have a cheerful heart. Although I cannot feel it right now, or even imagine it, I believe it, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
Beautiful One, I understand that there is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to love and time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace. Lord, there was a time for me to experience my heartbreak, but I know that now is the time for healing, now is the time to rejoice, not remain in depression, Amen.

Isaiah 33:2
O Lord, be gracious to me, I long for You! Be my strength every morning and my salvation in time of distress. Be my joy and my healing in this time of heartbreak. Father, the pain that I feel is overwhelming, but I declare that You are my strength! You are my peace! You are my healing! There is nothing too big for You to deal with, so deal with my heart, Amen.

James 14:27
God of Healing, You left Your people with peace; You gave Your people peace. I thank You because You do not give to me as the world gives. I pray that I do not let my heart remain troubled (or broken) and that I do not be afraid. I declare peace to rule over my heart and I pray against heartbreak. I pray for love to rule in my heart so that I can love again and be fearless again, Amen.

Matthew 11:28-30
Heavenly Father, I come to You because I am weary and burdened and I want to find rest. Experiencing heartbreak has placed a weight over my life that I do not want or need. Lord, I take Your yoke upon me and I pray that I learn from You, for You are gentle and humble in heart, and I will find rest for my soul. Thank You Lord because Your yoke is easy and Your burden is light, Amen.

Psalm 107:19-21
Dear Father, I cry to You right now in my trouble, I cry to You right now from a heart that is broken. I know that You will save me from my distress. I pray that Your word will fill me and heal me; I pray that You rescue me from this emotional death that I have experienced. I give You thanks for Your unfailing love and Your wonderful deeds for mankind! Amen.

Psalm 30:2
Lord my God, I call to You for help, and I declare that You will heal me. I will no longer feel the pain of my heartbreak and I will no longer rest comfortably in my heartbreak! I choose healing, in Jesus’ Name. I declare that the pain that I feel will become a distant memory, and the joy of You will instead fill my heart! I declare and believe that it shall happen, Amen.

Psalm 147:3
Father of Truth, Your word states that You heal the broken-hearted and You bind up their wounds. I am broken-hearted and I pray that You bind up my wounds. I thank You in advance for my emotional healing and I thank You in advance for the peace and joy that I will receive. Lord, I will no longer be oppressed by my emotions nor will I hide in my pain. I will be healed. I am healed, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Psalm 30:10-11
Hear my voice precious Lord and be merciful to me; Lord be my help. You turned my wailing into dancing; You removed my sackcloth (mourning clothes) and clothed me with joy! I wear the garment of praise instead of garments of heartbreak. I worship You because You have given me joy, You have given me peace, You have given me hope and these things I receive. Thank You for being my help, Amen.
