Prayer for Firefighters
Mighty and everlasting God, You send Your servants for every occasion. In Your abundant love for humans, You have provided selfless civil servants who help to uphold and maintain Your created order. Among these, firefighters are among the most valiant and brave. They are a wonderful gift You have provided for society. Bless these heroes and keep them safe in their noble vocation, that they may exhibit Your sacrificial love day in and day out and go home safely to their families. Amen.
Firefighter’s Personal Prayer for Wisdom on the Front Lines
Lord God of heaven’s armies, once again, I am called to the front lines. As the alarm rings, the sounds and sights become overwhelming. I don’t have time to think and prepare, and instinct and wisdom begin to take precedent. I ask that You fill me with Your divine wisdom. Enlighten my mind with Your Spirit, that I may make wise decisions in the heat of the moment. You say to ask my generous God for wisdom, and He will give it to me. I ask You, Almighty Father. Fill me with Your wisdom. Guide my steps so that I put out the fire, save lives, and then can go home safely. Be with me every moment, dear Lord. Amen.
Prayer to Bless All Firefighters
All-powerful Father, I ask You to look upon the Earth and bless Your servants who are members of the firefighting community. I ask that You bless and honor their willingness to sacrifice themselves for the sake of others. Give these heroes the protection and strength they need to carry out their civic function in a way that honors and upholds Your holy name. Amen.
Prayer for Fallen Firefighters
Jehovah Shalom, our God of peace, well pleased are You when one lays down their life for another, for such is the way of Your kingdom. I offer up my prayers and supplications for all of those brave firefighters who have given up their own lives to put out fires and rescue others. We rejoice in their work and give thanks and praise to You for their example. May You teach us to also live as selflessly as they, through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Firefighter’s Personal Prayer for Own Peace of Mind
Lord God, my Peace-Bringer, You say to be strong and courageous and that You will never leave me nor forsake me. Lord, I am constantly worried about what may happen to me. I wonder about the consequences of making a mistake and losing my life or causing someone else to lose their life. Lord, help me to rest assured of Your purpose. Calm my mind and ease my apprehension. Help me to give You control and trust in Your good promises, so that I may serve in my vocation in peace. Amen.
Prayer for Protection
Lord, our Shield, a firefighter has a very difficult and dangerous duty. It requires of them feats of heroism and physical strength and endurance that is unfathomable to most of us. We ask them to enter into situations that seem insane. Protect these men and women from all harm and danger. Send Your holy angels to be with them, that the Evil One may visit no wrath upon them. Amen.
Prayer to Protect My Loved One
O Lord, mighty in power, a person close to me known by You is a firefighter and is engaged in fighting a raging blaze. These jobs are so incredibly dangerous and require much strength and courage. Lord of hosts, send Your Spirit of protection to be with him/her as he/she lays their life on the line to put the fire out. Give them tact and wisdom to be able to think clearly and concisely, that he/she may diligently put down the inferno and safely go home after their work is finished. Amen.
Firefighter’s Personal Prayer for Own Blessing
Lord Jesus, You say You will keep me from all harm, that You will watch over my life, both now and forevermore. Lord, as I go again on a call to put out flames, I ask that You bless me. Keep me close to You so that I may do my job as a firefighter with love and humility. Bless me with the integrity that I need, so that I do not seek praise and admiration, but the approval of You alone. Bless me, Lord, so that the flames do not touch me and the smoke does not reach my lungs. Bless me with a long life of service to others. I pray this through Jesus Christ, my Lord. Amen.
Prayer for My Loved One’s Strength
Lord Jesus, as my loved one again answers the call of a fire, I ask that You send Your Spirit to be with him/her. For they are tired and run down. Day in and day out, they work until there is nothing left of them. They enter perilously into harm’s way and are thanked very little for it. O Lord, give them a tough hide, but a soft heart. Give them the strength and fortitude to do their duty honorably, that they may become a better servant of all. Amen.
Prayer to Guide My Loved One
Lord Jesus, amid a burning building, it can be very difficult to make it through. The halls fill with smoke. Breathing becomes difficult. As my loved one enters buildings as a firefighter, I pray that You miraculously take him/her by the hand. Guide him/her through these buildings so that he/she remains safe and out of harm’s way. Send Your angel to encamp around my loved one and deliver him/her safely from the flames. Amen.
Prayer for Firefighter Families
Gracious Lord, each day, the families of firefighters must endure anxiety and uncertainty about the safety of their beloved. Let Your caring Spirit wash over them. Soothe their fears and uncertainties, ever confident that You will do right according to Your good judgment. For through You and in You is all life, grace, and treasure, now and throughout all the ages. Amen.
