16 Good Nighttime Prayers for Adults

Reciting a daily prayer before bedtime is just one way you can seek refuge and achieve spiritual peace. Here are 16 good nighttime prayers for adults.

Prayer for Deep Rest
Lord Jesus, thank You for getting me through this day. Jesus, as I lay my head on this pillow and close my eyes, place a deep sleep upon me, as You did to Adam in the garden of Eden. Remove all things that are defiling my soul. Remove my sinful nature, as You removed Adam’s rib. Restore my mind, body, and soul tonight. Wake me in the morning fresh and renewed, ready to conquer a new day. In Jesus’s name. Amen.

Forgive Me Prayer
Father, I come to You tonight before I sleep with Jesus’s blood. I repent of everything I did today that hurt You and others. Wash away all my sins with a big wave of Your Son’s blood upon me. I pray that as I lay down for the night, that my thoughts will be on Your righteousness and not on my wrongdoings. Fill me with Your peace so I can feel that my slate is clean and tomorrow is a new day. In Jesus’s name. Amen.

Prayer for Dreams and Visions
My Wonderful Father, my last prayer to You before I close my eyes is for You to give me dreams and visions as I sleep. Your Word says: “Your old men shall see dreams and Your young man shall see visions.” Help me to remember them when I wake up so that I can reflect on what You have given me during the night. Please, Lord, let Your Word come true. In Christ Jesus’s name. Amen.

Prayer for a Visitation
Father, as I lay down for sleep, I think about how Jacob laid his head upon a rock and You visited him right where he was. Lord, please visit me tonight, right where I am. Speak to my heart so that I may know for sure that the Lord is with me in my bedroom. Fill me with Your presence. Change my life forever, tonight, oh Father. Visit me and show me Your great plans for my life. Amen.

Prayer for Money to Pay Bills
Lord, thank You for all that You did for me today, and that You do every day. Even without me asking, You still provide for me. Lord, I come before You and ask that You provide me with all the things I need for tomorrow. Lord, right now what I need most is a financial blessing. Provide me with the funds I need to pay all my bills. You gave me Your Son’s blood. How much more will You give something as small as money! Thank You for answering my prayer. Amen.

Prayer for Energy Tomorrow
Oh God, I am extremely exhausted tonight. Thank You for being exhausted on the way to Calvary so that I could have energy. Tomorrow, Father, I pray that You fill me up with the resurrection power of Jesus Christ so that I have enough energy to accomplish everything I have planned. There is so much that I need to get done, and I need to have energy and focus to do it, and to do it well. In Jesus’s name. Amen.

God’s Will for Decisions Prayer
Oh, Righteous Father, tonight while I sleep, fill me with the knowledge of Your will. Reveal to me what You would like for me to do tomorrow. Download into my soul the wisdom for the decisions I need to make. I want to do what You would like me to do, not what I want to do. Let me wake up tomorrow with all the answers to the problems I have now. You are the God of solutions. The world had a sin problem and You sent Your only begotten Son. Father, You are my solution. In Jesus’s name. Amen.

Prayer for Physical Strength at Work
Oh God, have mercy on me. Tomorrow morning please strengthen my body and give me a Samson anointing. Let every muscle, organ, cell, and nerve feel the power of God upon them tomorrow morning. Let me knock down everything that is against me and accomplish everything at work without feeling aches or pain in my body. God, give me the power of the Holy Ghost to gain victories for Your kingdom tomorrow. In Jesus’s name. Amen.

Surprises for the Morning Prayer
Oh, my beautiful Jesus, as I lay down to sleep I ask that You please surprise me tomorrow in an unexpected way. As I sleep, please prepare a miracle in heaven that I may receive on this earth. You surprised the world when You resurrected people from the dead, so I believe You can surprise me. You know what I need most, so please surprise me according to my needs. Thank You that You are the God who answers the prayers of Your children. In Jesus’s name. Amen.

Take away My Fear Prayer
Lord, I am all alone and scared tonight. I am afraid of the darkness in this place and the darkness outside. Let this room be filled with Your presence. Through the darkness, let Your light shine inside my soul. Remove all my fear. I know You haven’t given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. Please put me at ease, so I am not afraid of things or people I cannot see. Fill me with Your reassurance that You will protect me as I sleep. In Jesus’s name. Amen.

Healing from Anxiety Prayer
God, I have so much anxiety tonight that it is hard for me to sleep. Your Word says that by Jesus’s stripes, I am healed. Lord, Your back was bloodied so that I may be free from anxiety. Nail my anxiety to the cross, to remain there forever and ever. Stop me from thinking about my own needs and worries. Refocus me on Your Son, who endured more suffering then I can ever imagine. Tomorrow, let me wake up in a peaceful state of mind, well-rested, with my eyes firmly fixed on You. Amen.

Asleep Physically but Awake Spiritually Prayer
Father God, please allow me to sleep tonight peacefully, but, oh Lord, let me be awake spiritually. Fill me up with the precious promise of the Holy Spirit. Let me be not like the foolish virgins whose lamps were found with no oil. Make me like the wise virgins who thought ahead to prepare by filling their lamps with oil. Fill me with Your Spirit, that I may be ready for Your second coming to this earth. Amen.

Prayer to Be a Messenger
God, as I lay down to sleep and reflect on my day, I ask you to use me tomorrow as Your voice. Use me to bring one soul into Your kingdom. Whoever is hopeless, bring them to me so that I may proclaim the wonderful news of Your Son. I pray for You to grant me the boldness so I will be able to preach the gospel in a way that this person will hear Your truth. I’m tired of not sharing Your Word with others. Remove my shyness and grant me the power to share the gospel, just as the Apostles did. In Jesus’s name. Amen.

A Breakthrough at Work Tomorrow Prayer
Lord God, my mind is troubled tonight as I try to go to sleep because I am thinking about what happened at work today. Tomorrow, please fill me with Your inspiration so I know what to do to achieve a breakthrough. When Your Disciples were at work fishing, You told them to throw the nets to the other side of the boat and they caught an abundant amount of fish. Lord, quiet my mind so I can hear Your whispers leading my actions. I truly need Your help to make good things happen at my job. Give me divine directions, Lord. Amen.

Mental Toughness at the Gym Prayer
Lord, You carried your cross to Calvary. You kept pushing. You kept going. You had a determination to never give up and never quit. Tomorrow, as I am in the gym, help me to have the mental toughness to push through my workout with endurance. Lord, remove all excuses that may pop up into my head and give me a will that never quits. In Jesus’s name. Amen.

I Want to Be Like Jesus Prayer
Father, I will not be satisfied until I awake in the likeness of Jesus. I don’t want the things of this world. I want to be like Your Son. Tomorrow, when I wake up, let me think like Jesus, love like Jesus, pray like Jesus, and look at people just as Jesus looks at people. Lord, I don’t want my character anymore. Grant me the character of Christ. Amen.
