18 Good Bible Verses on Premarital Sex

Much of the scripture and traditional Christianity practices go on to oppose the idea of premarital sex. Is there justification for this common practice? Lets look to the Book to see what Bible verses on premarital sex are written.

“And if a man shall take his sister, his father’s daughter, or his mother’s daughter, and see her nakedness, and she see his nakedness; it [is] a wicked thing; and they shall be cut off in the sight of their people: he hath uncovered his sister’s nakedness; he shall bear his iniquity.” | Leviticus 20:17

“And it came to pass about three months after, that it was told Judah, saying, Tamar thy daughter in law hath played the harlot; and also, behold, she [is] with child by whoredom. And Judah said, Bring her forth, and let her be burnt. ” | Genesis 38:24

“But I say to the unmarried and to widows that it is good for them if they remain even as I. But if they do not have self-control, let them marry; for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.” | 1 Corinthians 7:8-9

“But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and [from] fornication, and [from] things strangled, and [from] blood.” | Acts 15:20

“Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins people commit are outside their bodies, but those who sin sexually sin against their own bodies. Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” | 1 Corinthians 6:18-20

“For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that is, that you abstain from sexual immorality;” | 1 Thessalonians 4:3

“I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. ” | 1 Corinthians 7:8

“If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood [shall be] upon them.” | Leviticus 20:13

“If a man be found lying with a woman married to an husband, then they shall both of them die, [both] the man that lay with the woman, and the woman: so shalt thou put away evil from Israel.” | Deuteronomy 22:22

“If a man finds a girl who is a virgin, who is not engaged, and seizes her and lies with her and they are discovered, then the man who lay with her shall give to the girl’s father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall become his wife because he has violated her; he cannot divorce her all his days.” | Deuteronomy 22:28-29

“It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God;” | 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5

“It is reported commonly [that there is] fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father’s wife.” | 1 Corinthians 5:1

“It is what comes out of a person that defiles. For it is from within, from the human heart, that evil intentions come: fornication, theft, murder, adultery, avarice, wickedness, deceit, licentiousness, envy, slander, pride, folly. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.” | Mark 7:20-23

“Marriage [is] honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.” | Hebrews 13:4

“Nevertheless, [to avoid] fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.” | 1 Corinthians 7:2

“Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. ” | Matthew 1:18

“The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.” | Galatians 5:19-21
