Getting ready for the arrival of your new baby does not go without complication. These short soothing prayers for labor and delivery will bring you comfort and encouragement during this time.
My God, I offer you this day
all I think and do and say.
Uniting all with what was done
on earth by Jesus Christ your son.
May you watch my sleep as I carry this baby.
May your hand be upon this little life as it develops in my womb.
May you fill our hearts with joy, and our bodies with peace.
May we feel you so close to us as we sense your amazing creativity at work.
We rest in you.
Loving Heavenly Father, creator of all things, Your Word says “You created all things through Jesus Christ and You made all things good and perfect.” You give life to all things. I thank You, that I have conceived by Your grace and mercy. The baby in my womb is Your creation, thank You for Your precious gift.
Lord, thank you that I have vigor and strength to deliver this child you have given us!
Lord, I confess I can do this through You. It is You who gives me strength.
Lord, You are my song in the light and in the dark. I will always sing to you, my Savior and my strength.
Lord Jesus, You be present with me during all this time this baby grows and comes into this world. Lord Your Word says “8 Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I sanctified you. Please grant me a safe and normal delivery. Take away all blocks and barriers that are hindering this blessing in my life. Lord I also pray that You lead all pregnant women who are reading this prayer to safe and normal delivery. All this I ask in the name of Jesus, who is Lord of Life, now and forever. Amen.
Send your angels to keep guard as labour begins, Lord comfort and protect us all.
Surround us with your hope and goodness.
Hold us through each wave of delivery.
Give to us a perfect life.
Come hold us safely within your promises, now and forever.
Lord, I call to you for any help I will ever need, no matter what my situation. I call on You first… and you hear my call.
Eve, mother of all the living, you experienced perfect harmony with the Father in the Garden, but you also know what it is to doubt his love and provision and grasp at godliness. Please pray for me as I prepare my heart, mind, and body for motherhood, that I may not give into Satan’s lies and try to be my own god. Amen.
Thank you, Lord for your promise of peace. I receive the peace that is mine in you, Jesus. Thank you that my baby’s shalom, peace and total well-being, is secure because of your faithfulness to your servants and to your Word. May your peace rule and reign and give life during my labor and the delivery of this child you have given us.
Lord, You are the only ever-present one. Thank you for being with us during labor and delivery. I will not fear.
Thank You, Father, for the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus that has made me and my child free from the law of sin and death! Father, thank You for protecting me and my baby and for our good health. Thank You for hearing and answering my prayers. Amen
Thank you for this contraction, Lord!!! I welcome it, and allow it to do its job!
You created me to do this!! I have faith in that! Cast away all my fears and help me relax my entire body so it can take over and bring this baby in the world.
Thank you, Lord, for Your safety and love, and this precious baby!
In Jesus’ Name,
God, thank you for giving each one of us life. Thank you for knitting us together in our mother’s wombs even before she knew we existed. Thank you for giving us a purpose for every beat of our hearts and every breath we take. It is in you that we live and move and have our being (Acts 17:28) and we praise you for your good and beautiful works. We are not here by accident, and we thank you that this new, budding life is not an accident either. You are a gracious and generous giver of good things, Lord! This new life is in your hands, and we pray that we would be a good steward of this precious creation. In your name we pray, Amen.
Lord, You made me. You created me to carry and deliver children. Thank you for making me in such a wonderful fashion.
Lord, You are my supernatural, perfect peace. I know your peace and will know it during labor and delivery of this child. My focus is on You and your goodness.
God, thank you for giving my baby a hope and a future. No matter what her life holds both in my womb and in the world, I give you praise for her presence and purpose. Thank you for knowing her intimately, loving her deeply, and entrusting her to my care. Give me strength as I carry her. Equip my body to do this good work of preparing her little life for birth. Thank you for making this baby specifically and carefully and wonderfully. May her life be for your glory and may you be praised through this pregnancy, Jesus! Amen.
God, you see my baby in my womb. You know her every detail, every muscle, every bone, every bit of her beautiful body, mind, heart, and soul. No matter how she is formed, she is beautiful and she is beloved by you. Grant me peace throughout this pregnancy, that I would surrender every worry or fear to you. May I take heart, knowing you have overcome the world and made a way for us to be near to you in heaven someday and on earth here now. No matter what comes, be near, Jesus. Bring comfort and peace, bring blessed assurance. In your name, Amen.
Thank you for this contraction! I am one step closer to meeting this miracle! Thank you for your safety and love!
In Jesus’ Name,
Lord, You will renew my strength during delivery. My strength will not wear out because it is from You and my hope is in You.
God, thank you for being our teacher. Thank you for imparting your perfect wisdom onto us even from our very first moments. You are equipping us with the knowledge we need and giving us talents and abilities we can use to build your kingdom and serve you. I cannot wait to see how this baby will impact this world for your glory, Lord! Amen.
Thank you, Holy Spirit, for always being my comfort. You always bring the comfort I need.
Lord, because I know you and love you, this baby will come to know you and I pray they come to love you too. As you are present with me, be present with my baby in my womb. Cover her with your love and grace. Comfort her and bring her peace. Strengthen her and grow her. Create in her a heart that will long for closeness with you every day of her life. In your name I pray, Amen.
Lord Jesus, thank you for your protection over my life and my baby’s life. Thank you for keeping her safe and secure in my body and in your love. Thank you for strengthening her, keeping her healthy, and preparing her for the plans you have set before her. For as long as this pregnancy lasts, I pray that you will be doing the mighty and marvelous work that only you can do, creating life and bringing beauty into the world through your creations. We give you all glory, honor, and praise for this life, Jesus. Amen.
Because You, Lord, are staying with me throughout my labor and delivery, I have no reason to fear.
Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for the child You are giving me. Thank you for this awesome miracle of new life. You are the only one who knows if I am having a boy or a girl, and whichever it is, I ask You to bless my baby with good health and with love. Lord, please help me feel well physically, and take away any morning sickness or other hardships that may make it hard for me to concentrate on You and this gift You are giving me. I pray against miscarriage, Jesus.
I know how common it is, but I know You want me to have a healthy baby, and so I claim a healthy pregnancy, in Jesus’ name. I know love is the most important gift I can give my baby, so help me to be the most loving mother I can be. Father God, I want to be an extension of Your love. Use me to bring Your love into my child’s life. Anoint me to teach my child how to pray. Help me teach my child Your ways and Your Word. Help me to be a good role model. And again, I praise You for this wonderful miracle of life that’s growing inside me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
Father God, I thank You for my baby’s heartbeat, and even though I can’t hear it yet, I know You can. Bless my baby’s heart and cause it to grow strong, just as it should be. Protect my baby’s heart from any defects or problems. Your Word says that in the beginning Your creative powers were at work. I acknowledge Your power and ask You to extend it to my baby also.
Create a healthy baby, week by week, as he or she grows. And, Lord, give my child a heart to love and serve You. Give my child a tender heart, open to hearing Your voice, and to be kind and compassionate toward others. Please help me to be a good role model of these attitudes as well. Help me lead my child in prayer and in opening up our hearts to You to receive Your love. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
Dear Lord, I pray for my baby this week. I pray that You will turn my baby’s head down in the direction You want him to be. If for some reason the baby shouldn’t turn, such as if the cord is wrapped around his neck, then I pray that You take care of this situation, too.
Lord, thank you for not leaving us alone. Thank you for being with our baby as it passes through the waters in my womb.
You are a great and powerful God. I know that if I praise You, You will rain down Your blessings from above. I believe that You are the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. This is a new beginning for my baby, for our family. We praise You for this wonderful gift. Thank you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
