7 Powerful Prayers for a Father Who Has Passed

Psalm 34:18 & Deuteronomy 31:6
Dear Lord, I thank You for Your divine presence in this time of pain. Your Word tells me that You are near the brokenhearted and near the crushed in spirit. Your word reminds me that I am not alone because You will never leave me, nor forsake me. Lord, I understand that my father has left me to be with You in heaven, but I pray that I hold onto the fact that You are still with me; thank You Lord, Amen.

Matthew 5:4
Heavenly Father, Your Word declares that: ‘blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted’. Lord, we are so grateful that You have enabled us to be comforted in such a time as this, a time of great loss and a time of great pain. We look to You as our divine comfort and we know that in my mourning, our peace in You (that You have promised me) is much greater, Amen.

Revelation 21:4
Awesome God, I cry out to You in my pain right now. I have lost someone who I loved dearly, someone that I did not picture my life without. (my father) Lord, I pray that You equip me to cope with this. I thank You for being there to wipe away every tear from my eyes, I know that this pain is temporary. Even death itself shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things will pass away! Amen.

Psalm 23:4
Beautiful One, thank You for being the Good Shepherd who cares about the lives of His flock. Lord, You care about the state that I am in, You care about my broken heart and for that I adore You. I have lost my father, but even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me, Amen.

Isaiah 57:1-2
Righteous God, help me to see things like You do. I pray that You give me vision so that I can find peace in the loss of my father, despite the excruciating pain that I feel. I know that the righteous man perishes, and that it should not be taken to heart even though it’s hard. Devout men are taken away, while no one understands. For the righteous man is taken away from calamity; he enters into peace; those who walk in their uprightness find rest in their beds, Amen.

Psalm 116:15
Holy One, I know that the death of my father is something that You care about too because Your Word says that: precious in Your sight, is the death of Your saints. Lord, I know that my father is in a much better place with You because I know that You love him. But Lord it is hard to be without him. Please give me strength and please give me peace so that I can bear the pain of my loss, Amen.

Psalm 147:3
Oh Lord, hear the cries of our heart. Lord, we know that You see our pain and we ask You for divine healing. We know that only You can heal the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds. So, Father, please heal us and bind up our brokenness. Bind up the wound left in our hearts by the loss of our father. Bind up pain and negative emotions that have come from this loss, Amen.
