Helping a friend or family member overcome addiction is to difficult to do alone. These powerful prayers for addicted loved ones will help you find the words and seek the divine intervention you need for them to find healing.
Most loving God,
we ask your blessing upon all
who suffer from addiction.
Strengthen them to reach out for help.
Enable them to take the first step to recovery.
Bless them with the persistence to persevere
in the fight to be free.
Give courage and hope to their families,
drawing them close together
in the power of your love,
which alone can transform our living.
Help us to remember that the manipulation of substance-influenced brain is beyond practicality before attempting to speak reason into it. Remind us that the disease of addiction can be healed. Place an army of people qualified and educated specifically in this battle to help our children out of the hole. Help us to seek them, seek their counsel, and help our children to connect with them. Help us to have compassion on our children as they suffer, without enabling them to sink back into the hole. Surround us with a circle of qualified and godly people to guide us on how to execute life with addiction so near and penetrating. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Bless this day
keep me safe and whole
kind and compassionate.
Bless my path today
Help me to act with wisdom
and live in perpetual gratitude.
Bless my human family
who are everywhere & everyone
Bless the creatures and plants
May all life be blessed on this day,
God of mercy, we bless you in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, who ministered to all who come to Him. Give your strength to (name of the one I am praying for), who is bound by the chains of addiction. Enfold him/her in your love and restore him/her to freedom through your grace.
Lord, look with compassion on all those who have lost their health and have broken relationships because of their attachment to the object of their addiction. Restore to them the assurance of your unfailing mercy, and strengthen them in the work of recovery. To those who care for them, grant patient understanding and a love that perseveres.
Lord, in your servant, Venerable Matt Talbot you have given us a wonderful example of triumph over addiction, of devotion to duty, and of lifelong reverence of the Holy Sacrament. May his life of prayer and penance give (name of the one I am praying for) courage to take up his/her cross and follow in the footsteps of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Father, we ask this through Christ our Lord.
Father we pray specifically for our child’s physical health, mental health, safety, shelter, employment, and dependance on You. Bless us with a released grip on control, send Your Spirit to strengthen us to surrender worry and control. God, You are bigger. You are in control. You are love. You sent Jesus down to earth and after our hearts… to call out the demons, heal disease, and claim His Father’s children… leaving not one behind. Father, we pray, in the name of Jesus, Your perfect Son who died for Your will to be done, for miraculous healing in our children’s’ lives and freedom from the demon of addiction. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Lord God in heaven Creator of all things.
You have all power to heal those who are struggling with the devastating disease of addiction.
We pray God you would intercede in their lives and flood their eyes with light. So they can know and understand the hope to which you have called them.
Give them strength and courage take away their fears, grief, anxieties, and resentments.
Send your word God heal them, rescue them from the pit of destruction.
Allow them to live and not die.
Heal their broken hearts and bind up their wounds curing all of their pains and sorrows.
Allow them to hear your call, allow them the grace to never ever give up and to always stay focused on you.
Fill their hearts with your word, for your word is life to all who find it and health for the whole body, mind, and spirit.
I pray these things in Jesus Holy Name.
We pray a hedge of protection around ourselves, our homes, family, and name of person. We plead the blood of Jesus over their addiction. We plead the blood of Jesus over their desire for drugs/alcohol. Your word promises to set the captives free and to release from darkness for the prisoned. We pray that your Holy Spirit would work in our hearts that your name would be uplifted and glorified. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
The only way to truly recover from addiction is to seek the help of the Lord. Check out this video from Pastor Rick Warren as he explains how there will be no recovery without prayer.
