7 Reflection Prayers for Weddings

Genesis 2:24
Heavenly Father, I thank You that You instituted for man to leave his mother and father so that he can become one with his wife. I thank You for this divine companionship that You created. I pray that this companionship is always centered around You and Your love. Let Your unconditional love guide this marriage and that as we reflect on our wedding, we will remember that You are very much in the center of it, Amen.

Ephesians 5:33
Holy Father, I thank You that You are a God of love and we ask that as we reflect on weddings, we too will always act out of love. I pray that each individual in their marriage will love the other like himself/herself. Let the husband behave with respect and esteem, always seeking the best for his wife out of lovingkindness. Let the wife pay attention to her husband, treating him with loving concern. Let each individual honor the other, this we pray, Amen.

Ephesians 5:25
God of Love, I pray that You help me (the husband) to love my wife seeking the highest good for her. As I reflect on our wedding, I pray that You will remove any unselfish love or negative emotions from this marriage in Jesus’ Name. I pray that I show this marriage love just like You loved the church and gave Your only Son for her. I pray that I will follow Your example, in Jesus Name, Amen.

Ephesians 5:22 & Proverbs 18:22
God of Love, I pray that You help me (the wife) to respect and delight in my husband, just as You Lord delight in Your children. I pray that I will honor him and hold him dear just like I honor You. Help me to remain true and faithful so that I can help bring Your favor and approval into our marriage. Give me a loving heart so that I can be a good and supportive wife; this is the prayer of my heart, Amen.

Hebrews 13:4 & Mark 10:9
Heavenly Father, as I reflect on this marriage, I pray that it is held in honor among everything else. I pray that the marriage bed remains undefiled for it is You who judges the sexually immoral and adulterous. I pray that love governs this marriage, not lust. Let what You have joined together, never become separate; we ask all this, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

1 Corinthians 13:4
God of Love let us be reflections of You in this marriage. Help us to remember that love is patient, kind and is not jealous nor boastful. Love is not proud or arrogant. I pray that the love in this marriage is innocent and childlike and will not become corrupt by our own fleshy/natural desires and feelings. I thank You for this love-filled marriage and for Your divine love, Amen.

1 John 4:7-8
Dear Lord, help us to love unselfishly so that we may genuinely seek the best for one another in this marriage. Lord, I pray that You will remain at the center of marriages because love is from You and You are love. So, as we reflect on this marriage, we ask that You will help us to always love one another, because loving my husband/wife makes me more like You; the originator of love which is an enduring attribute of Your nature; thank You Lord, Amen.
