With so much conflict and war between nations, it can seem like we live in constant crisis. Here are 7 strong prayers for our troubled world that will help to encourage healing and restoration to the many souls around the globe.
Prayer for Healing
Jehovah Rapha, our Great Healer, we intercede for all those around the world who are afflicted with disease and disability. We especially pray for those in areas with limited medical facilities. We pray that church leaders around the world will obey Your command to lay hands on the sick and anoint them with oil. Help us all to remember to pray for one another so that we may be healed, for surely the prayer of a righteous person has great power to prevail. Amen.
Prayer for the Destitute
Father of the fatherless, we bring to You the plight of so many in our world who suffer from deep poverty and hunger and homelessness. O Deliverer of the poor and needy, You have not ignored the torment of the afflicted, but have attended to their cries for help. Lord, we remember that when You walked this earth, You commanded us to sell our possessions and give to the poor. May we do our part to alleviate suffering. Amen.
Prayer Against Violence and War
King of the Nations, we hear every day of warfare and violence all around the globe. We long for peace. We know that these are signs of the end times, but we plead for peace. May we, like Jesus, live lives of mildness and gentleness and humility. Help us to know what we can do to work for peace in our families, in our communities, in our nation, and in our world. May we be instruments of Your peace. Amen.
Prayer for Those in Unbelief
O Savior and Redeemer, we intercede for all those living in our troubled world who do not believe in You. Multitudes have never even heard Your Name! How can they believe in the One of whom they have not heard? O Lord, raise up workers for Your harvest! Remind us to pray and give to Your work around the world, and to share our faith, both in words and in actions, with those around us. Amen.
Prayer for the Oppressed
God of love, our hearts are troubled by the many people on our earth living under oppression – some from political systems, some from cultural or familial norms, some from spiritual forces of evil. Lord, You see the tears and hear the sigh of the oppressed and uphold their cause. You work righteousness and justice for them, and You are their refuge; use us as Your ambassadors of deliverance. Help us to be prayer warriors for them and find practical ways to come alongside them with Your love. Amen.
Prayer for the Persecuted
Righteous Judge, we come to You with saddened hearts for those who are persecuted in the many nations of our world – especially for those who are persecuted because of their faith in You. Be their strength, their comfort, and their defender. Help them remember that they are persecuted, but not abandoned. Remind them that if they are insulted for the Name of Christ, they are blessed, because the Spirit of glory rests on them and is cultivating perseverance, character, and hope. Amen.
Prayer for the Suffering
Lord of Compassion, we intercede for the millions around our globe who are suffering in so many ways – from economic issues, disease, warfare, family breakdown, and so much more. We know that Your Son Jesus was a man of sorrows, familiar with suffering. He took up our pain and carried our afflictions. Speak to those who are afflicted, deliver those who are suffering, give them relief from their turmoil. Use us, Father, to be Your hands. Amen.
