10 Powerful Prayers for All Saints’ Day

Here are 10 of the most powerful prayers for All Saints’ Day.

Prayer for All Saints’
Almighty and everlasting God, You gave us Saints so that we can honor You by recognizing Your redemptive work in them, and that we have shining examples and powerful intercessors in our lives. They received blessings and righteousness from You because they belonged to a generation that sought only You. Allow me today to appreciate them for their past merits and their present prayers offered in the sight of Your divine majesty, so that my life too may become an oblation pleasing to You. Amen.

Meditation on the Universal Call to Sainthood
My God, who said “the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is close at hand. Repent, and believe the Gospel,” You gave me my existence, and revealed even greater blessings in the world to come. Today, Your Church keeps the festival of all Your servants who have already attained that blessed state. And while we should venerate all Your holy servants for what they, having accepted Your grace, have accomplished, we should not forget that with You, anything is possible, even our participation in Your divine life. Let us, by honoring Your saints in Heaven, be not only grateful to You for what You have done in them but to amend our own life and imitate them to reap the same rewards. Amen.

Prayer to Mary, Queen of Saints
My God, allow me to admire and thank the woman You wanted to bear and raise You. On the cross, You gave the Blessed Virgin Mary to us as a mother, and she fostered the apostles and the Early Church in their faith much like she looked after You as an infant. It was Your will that she be taken to Heaven, where she, having received her crown, adores You and intercedes for us. Mary, my dearest mother, pray for me to your Son so that I may one day share heavenly beatitude with you. Amen.

Prayer to Prophets, Apostles, and Martyrs
Lord Jesus, who gave us the model of martyrdom by laying down Your own life for us, and chose to redeem a people that have murdered Your prophets because we could not stand correction and truth, allow me to honor all who suffered persecution, humiliation, and loss of life for Your sweet name. Not everybody is called to shed blood for Your sake, but do not let me forget that whenever I suffer the world’s hatred for my faith, I should bear it gladly because it hated You first. Blessed be all Your martyrs, holy apostles, prophets, and patriarchs who unceasingly preached repentance and were happy to die for You. Amen.

Prayer to Confessors and Doctors of the Church
My God, I thank You for the great teachers and shepherds You sent us to continue Your redemptive work on Earth. You told them to baptize all in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and they did so. You told them to forgive sins, to sanctify, to preach, to heal, and they did so. They guarded Your flock against all error and filled Your Churches with wisdom and understanding flowing from their mouths. Inspire me with the same spirit so that I may know You and love You and consecrate all I do, say, and think to You. Amen.

Prayer to Virgins and Holy Women
Lord Jesus Christ, who taught Martha of Bethany that sitting at the Lord’s feet and listening to Him is all we need, I thank You for all the holy women You have given us to imitate. They loved justice, hated iniquity, and so You have anointed them with the oil of gladness. Grant that by following their example, dedication and holiness, we may grow in purity and obedience, and recognize You to be truly the one thing we need. Amen.

Prayer to Desire Heavenly Union with God
My Lord, give me a desire to want just one thing from You: to dwell in Your house all the days of my life, to gaze on Your beauty, to dwell in Your temple. I ask You this because I know that You cannot possibly give me more thank Yourself. I recognize that everything else is a distraction. You gave everything to me in the Holy Eucharist, the sacrament of Your own sweet presence, and fortified by this, You promised us that we will not taste death. Never let me betray You, and I know I will be happy forever. Amen.

Prayer to Keep the Beatitudes
My God, You gave us the Church so that Your saving work and ministry would continue after Your Ascension, and this Church recommends us that today, contemplating the glory of all Your saints, listen to the beatitudes. How often do I forget the price of sainthood! You are right, Lord, it is the poor in spirit, the mourners, the hungry and the thirsty, the merciful, the clean of heart, the peacemakers, and the persecuted who merit Your great reward in Heaven. Do not let my heart harden to the truth that I may have to give up everything to gain You, my true everything, and grant me a resolve to aspire to nothing but to receive Your blessings, whatever price I may pay for them. Amen.

Prayer to My Patron Saint
Almighty and eternal God, You took delight in creating variety and diverse things and creatures. I give You thanks for making saints of all sorts of Your children too, that they might serve as an example for us and an illustration of Your great mercy. I am especially grateful for my confirmation saint (name the person), whose intercession and example has helped me in my spiritual life. May I, by the intercession of my confirmation saint, the patron saints of my nation, occupation, and state in life, desire to come into the life You promise. Amen.

Prayer to Imitate Saints
Allow me to make a resolution this All Saints’ Day, my God. I would like to be more like Your saints! Your servant, Saint Paul tells us in his Letter to the Hebrews that You will not ignore our work and our love in serving Your saints, and this makes me wonder. Have I been relying on their intercession so as to avoid being holy? Am I trying to spare myself, and avoid sacrifices for Your holy name? Never let me do that! I too would like to share in heavenly bliss, and for that, I know I have to walk the narrow path; it is not enough to call on the saints if I am like them. Teach me in this holy season to not just love, respect, and marvel at Your saints, but to, for Your holy sake, become one. Amen.
