15 Uplifting Prayers for High School Students

High school can be a difficult time for many students as they work to transition into adulthood and start their own life. These uplifting prayers for high school students will help to encourage their future success and academic completion.

Prayer #1

Loving Father, I stand before You in the midst of confusion and complexities of life. My future sometimes seems distant and unknown. Give me, O Lord, the vision to see the path You set before me. Grant me the courage to follow Your way, that through the gifts and talents You have given me, I may bring Your life and Your love to others. I ask this through Jesus, Your Son and my Brother. Amen.

Prayer #2

O Lord God,
School is not always easy,
And some days, it is very difficult,
and I struggle to relax and be at peace.
Yet I know that you will give me
patience, wisdom, and courage,
to be excellent in every way,
and you will help me love others,
as you love me. Amen

Prayer #3

Father,
Strengthen my child in the faith! Make my child an influencer in school, not a follower of the status quo, not a peer-pleaser, but a God-pleaser, not a grumbler or complainer, but one with a grateful heart, not idle and lazy, but hardworking and happy, not entitled to anything but the promises You have written in Your Word, not prone to addiction except to be addicted to the joy only Your Holy Spirit can give. Grant friends whose hearts align with Yours. Send your protective angels to prevent injuries. Give creativity and ingenuity. Grant a generous helping of a hunger to learn, never satisfied, never abated, always seeking for Truth, and never stopping short of discovering the order and beauty You have created in the universe.

For the King and for His Kingdom!
Amen.

Prayer #4

Father of Light and Wisdom,
thank you for giving me
a mind that can know
and a heart that can love.

Help me to keep learning every day of my life–
no matter what the subject may be.
Let me be convinced that all knowledge leads to you
and let me know how to find you and love you
in all the things you have made.

Encourage me when the studies are difficult
and when I am tempted to give up
Enlighten me when my brain is slow
and help me to grasp the truth held out to me.

Grant me the grace to put my knowledge to use
in building the kingdom of God on earth
so that I may enter the kingdom of God in heaven.
Amen.

May everything we do
begin with your inspiration
and continue with your saving help.

Prayer #8

Eternal God, Creator of all I firmly believe that I am now in Your presence. I adore Your Divine Majesty and ask of You to enlighten my mind that I may know You more clearly and to move my heart that I my love you above all things, and my neighbour for Your sake me that may never in my thoughts words or deeds offend against Your Holy Law.

We give you thanks almighty God for all the benefits You have bestowed upon us. O my God I love You with my whole heart and above all things I am heartily sorry for having offended You because You are so good. I firmly resolve not to offend You anymore.

Prayer #9

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made.

For us men and our salvation, he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church.

I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Prayer #10

Lord Jesus,
You understand the difficulties humans face,
and the pressure I am under right now.
I ask that you guide me as I take this test,
so that I may do my best.
Open my mind,
Clear my thoughts,
Relax my mind and body,
And grant me perfect concentration,
So I may use the knowledge I have gained,
To build up your kingdom,
For the good of all. Amen

As I step into a new academic year
Restore my spirit
Renew my passion for sharing your wisdom
And nurture my compassion
for those You put in my charge.

Guide me as I seek to guide
Open my mind and heart
As I seek to open minds and hearts
To the Good News of justice and peace.

Help me listen more deeply
To the world and to your Word
So I can walk with my students
Attentive to the Wisdom that
Calls us all to the Kingdom of God.

Prayer #14

O My God
give me your grace
so that the things of this earth
and things more naturally pleasing to me,
may not be as close as you are to me.
Keep my eyes, my ears, my heart
from clinging to the things of this world.
Break my bonds, raise my heart.
Keep my whole being fixed on you.
Let me never lose sight of you;
and while I gaze on you,
let my love of you grow more and more every day.
