6 Powerful Prayers for Families Who Lost Loved Ones

1 Corinthians 15:26
Lord, hear our cries and our broken hearts. Losing a loved one is never easy, it feels as though we have lost something irreplaceable. However, we find comfort in knowing that the last enemy to be destroyed is death! Death cannot defeat us, for we are made alive again in You. Lord we rejoice knowing that we will be reunited with our loved one again, we also give You praise for allowing them to find rest in You, Amen.

2 Thessalonians 3:3
Holy God, You are faithful and You will strengthen and protect me from the evil one. Even in my time of grief I can be strengthened and protected by You. I pray that the pain and sadness that I feel does not consume me. Lord have Your divine way in my mind and in my emotions. I pray that even when it hurts, I continue to praise You for You are my awesome God! Amen.

Deuteronomy 31:6
Righteous God, Your Word tells me that You will always go with us. So we thank You because we are not alone in this loss, although we mourn as families it is easy to still feel isolated by the pain that we may feel. However, Your Word states that You will not leave us or forget us. Lord, thank You for being the Everlasting Rock and Comfort that our family can lean on in this difficult time, Amen.

Deuteronomy 31:8
Father, thank You for going ahead of me. The pain that I feel, You have already felt and have felt worse! I thank You for allowing us to not be alone in this painful time. You are with this family and we put our trust in You because we know that You will not fail us or forsake us! I will not fear or be dismayed because my awesome God is with me always, Amen!

Hebrews 13:6
Father we say with confidence that You are our helper! When we are happy You are our helper and when we grieve You are our helper because You do not change. Help us to not be afraid because there is nothing that can be done to us whilst we serve You for You wear the Victor’s Crown! We pray that in our mourning we see You as our helper so that we do not get comfortable in our grief. We pray that as we grieve will still have the joy of the Lord within our hearts, Amen.

Isaiah 30:15
Blessed is Your Name in all the earth. You have loved us and cared for us since the beginning of time. In quietness and confidence shall be our strength when there are no words left to say. I pray that in our mourning of the loss of a loved one, we remain united and encouraged by You, our Holy Father. I thank You in advance for allowing us to grieve as well as be strengthened by You. Spirit be with us at all times, this we pray, Amen.
