7 Powerful Prayers for Forgiving Yourself

1 John 1:9, Luke 11:4
Dear Lord, we pray that through Your love we are able to look honestly at ourselves and forgive ourselves for the mistakes and sins of our past. It is You who is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We pray that as You (our perfect and Divine Father) are able to forgive us, we too are able to forgive ourselves and those who sin against us. We pray that You will not lead us into temptation, this we ask, Amen.

Ephesians 4:27, Rom 8:35
Heavenly Father, I feel oppressed by my past and my sins. The devil wants me to remain in my guilt and shame instead of embracing Your love. But Your Word says that nothing can separate me from Your love; allow me to remember this whenever my past is brought to the forefront of my mind. Through Your love, I declare freedom from the guilt and pain of my past; thank You Lord, Amen.

1 John 1:9, Matt. 6:15, Romans 8:1
Dear Lord, I confess my wrongdoings and I am grateful for your forgiveness, but I struggle to forgive myself. Help me to forgive myself, just as You have forgiven me. Your Word says that if I do not forgive, I am interfering with my relationship with You. So, Lord please remove this from my heart so I can wholeheartedly give myself to You. I declare that from this day forward, I am set free from self-condemnation, Amen.

Gen 1:26-27, Daniel 9:9, 1 Peter 5:7
Oh Lord, we are created to be like You in spiritual personality and moral likeness. You are God of mercy and forgiveness, so give us the ability to be merciful and forgiving to ourselves. Lord, we need to be more like You in order to truly forgive and let go of our past mistakes. I pray for less of me and more of You, because Your Word reminds me that You care for me. So Lord, I turn myself over to You. Thank You for Your Word, Amen.

Luke 17:4, Matthew 18:21-22
Dear Father, I am struggling to believe that an all-loving God like You can forgive someone like me because I feel that I am not worthy of forgiveness. I have made mistakes that I am ashamed of that do not reflect Your nature or Your will over my life. But, Your Word says that if anyone sins against me then I should forgive them ’70 times 7’. Lord, help me extend this principle of forgiveness to myself; this I ask in Your Name, Amen.

Psalms 103:12
Dear Lord, thank You for forgiving me for all of my transgressions (those big and small). Help me to understand that You have separated me from my sins because of Your merciful heart. Father I need help with forgiving myself so that I can draw close to You again. Let Your divine peace rule in my heart instead of the shame I carry from my sins. Let the burden of guilt be released through forgiveness; thank You Lord for this release, Amen.

Matthew 18:21-22, Psalms, 51:10-11
Oh God, You encourage us to never stop forgiving, which has allowed me to forgive myself for my sins. But Lord I pray that I do not abuse the principle of forgiveness and realize that there will be a day where I will be judged for my wrongdoings. Lord I pray that I do not repeat my mistakes but help me to keep a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me. Lord I pray that You will not cast me away from Your presence and that Your Holy Spirit will always remain in me, Amen.
